Fabiano Merlante



Fabiano Merlante was born in Adria (Italy). He took a diploma of Guitar at the State Conservatory “A. Buzzolla” of Adria having as a highly qualified guide Michelangelo Severi. At the Conservatory “G. Frescobaldi” of Ferrara he then graduated “cum laude” in Guitar with Stefano Cardi and in Chamber Music with Tiziano Mealli. At the “B. Marcello” Conservatory in Venice he graduated “cum laude” in Lute with the guide of Tiziano Bagnati.
Besides high level scholarships, he obtained many Italian and International awards, both as soloist and as member of chamber ensembles. He attended Courses of Specializations of Guitar held by Ruggero Chiesa, Julian Bream, Manuel Barrueco, David Russell; he also attended Specialization Courses of Ancient Music held by Luciano Contini, Rolf Lislevand, and Nigel North. He has recorded for Dwójka(Polond), ORF (Austria), NDR (Germany), RAI (Italy), Radio France / France Musique (France) and cooperated in recordings of CDs for labels of Classical Music such as Ariston, Bongiovanni, Brilliant, Dynamic, Fra Bernardo, Glossa, HDB Sonus, M.A.P., Niccolò, NovAntiqua, Rainbow,Tactus.
He performs concerts playing with early romantic guitars, and with other ancient instruments such as archlute, theorbo and baroque guitar. He performs as soloist and he also collaborates with many baroque music groups (Accademia Barocca dei Virtuosi Italiani, Accademia Bizantina, Accademia Hermans, Alraune, Armoniosa, Aurata Fonte, Gene Barocco, I Fiori Musicali, I Musicali Affetti, Italico Splendore, La Dafne, Lautten Compagney, Sans Souci, ...), and with prestigious directors and soloists as Alfredo Bernardini, Ottavio Dantone, Diego Fasolis, Delphine Galou, Vivica Genaux, Roy Goodman, Paolo Grazzi, Sigiswald Kuijken, Sara Mingardo, Stefano Montanari, Monica Piccinini, Sonia Prina, in Italy and abroad (Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Swiss, Turkey, ...).
In his constant research of ancient musical repertoire in Italian libraries, he has been discovering unreleased nineteenth-century musical repertoire, editing and publishing for important specialized Italian publishers. He is also active in working with various contemporary composers in the drafting, revision and fingering for guitar music.
He is professor at the Conservatory “Agostino Steffani” of Castelfranco Veneto.
