Sara Mazzarotto



Born in Venice in 1997, Sara Mazzarotto graduated cum laude from the Conservatory “C. Pollini” of Padua at age 18. She earned her master’s degree with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and studied with Sonig Tchakerian at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome, graduating with the highest marks as the top diploma recipient of her year. For five years, she was a devoted student of Salvatore Accardo at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona and Accademia Chigiana in Siena.
Winner of prizes in prestigious violin competitions such as the Vasco Abadjiev and Emil Kamilarov in Sofia, the Arthur Grumiaux in Brussels and the InterCordes in Paris, Sara Mazzarotto frequents a repertoire ranging from baroque to today's music. Sara has played Vivaldi concertos RV 212 and RV 547, Tartini D96, Mozart K219, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Dobrinka Tabakova (2021) and Gaia Aloisi (2026, world premiere) violin concerto with orchestra. She was recently awarded the first prize at Città di Treviso International Competition, the first prize at Palmanova International Competition for New Music and the Mention of Honor at the 41° International Competition of Contemporary Music Interpretation Valentino Bucchi in Rome.
Particularly attracted by chamber music and contemporary production, she has performed alongside artists such as Salvatore Accardo, Mario Brunello, Andrea Lucchesini, Sonig Tchakerian, Danilo Rossi, Julius Berger, Claudio Pasceri, Johannes Fleischmann, with members of the orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala Milan and the Ensemble Intercontemporain Paris.
She has played as soloist and chamber musician for institutions such as Embassy of the Netherlands in Beirut, Italian Institute of Culture in Lima, Festival de Mùsica de Canarias – Festival Contemporàneo, Batumi University in Georgia, Croatian’s Composers Society | Cantus Ansambl in Zagabria, Impuls Festival Graz, Amici della Musica di Padova, Fabrica Research Center Treviso, Fondazione Giorgio Cini Venezia, Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano, Portogruaro Music Festival, Asiagofestival, EstOvest Festival in Turin, ECHI Festival in Arezzo, Amici della Musica di Perugia, Verdi Theater in Pordenone, Settimane Musicali del Teatro Olimpico, Amici della Musica di Modena, Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, Nei Suoni Dei Luoghi, ArteScienza Roma, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Festival Pontino Latina, Festival Contrasti Trento, and many others.
She plays in duo with pianista Maria Iaiza with particular dedication to 20th century and today’s music. Significant for this formation have been the encounters with Salvatore Accardo, Bruno Canino and Claudio Ambrosini.
Since 2022 she is member of ensemble Opificio Sonoro directed by Marco Momi, with whom she participated in the recording of the album “Salvatore Sciarrino: Chamber Music" for Brilliant Classics.
She has furthermore collaborated on occasion with mdi ensemble from Milan and Ex-Novo ensemble from Venice. In 2026, she was invited to take part in Ulysses Ensemble, an international project dedicated to contemporary music developed across Milan - Divertimento Ensemble, Paris - Ensemble Intercontemporain and ManiFeste, and Barcelona - Mixtur Festival.
Also active in the orchestral field, Sara has served as a concertmaster from a very young age, collaborating with numerous chamber and symphonic orchestras. Since 2022 she leads the Orchestra Regionale Filarmonia Veneta. In the 2019/20 season, she performed with the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest in prestigious venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Nationale Opera & Ballet, and with the Nederlands Kamerorkest at the Muziekgebouw. Her professional orchestra experience includes collaborations with Blaricum Festival Orchestra under the direction of Mathieu Herzog, Italian String Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino, Orchestra Vittorio Calamani, Italian Youth Orchestra. She also served as concertmaster for the jazz project Nights on Earth with composer, arranger, and conductor Vince Mendoza in Amsterdam.
